A little About Myself ….

Well, hello and welcome to my little part of the world. My name is Melissa Neubert and I am a wife, a mom, a grammie and a fur mama. I am a reader and a writer. I am a mountain, beach, wildlife, football, chocolate dog and pajama addict. I love country music and I love going to live concerts- especially seeing Jake Owen. I am a certified travelaholic. I like camping and photography. I like to eat, but quite honestly hate to cook- so it is a good thing I have a great husband who is a great cook and doesn’t mind doing most of the cooking in our household. I like riding around the backroads, seeing nature and seeing wildlife, music turned up. I don’t like shopping. I like to visit big cities now and then, but I am happiest in the country, at the beach, in the mountains- just away from people. I consider myself caring, impatient, opinionated, and loyal to those who deserve it. I am very much an animal lover and advocate. I look forward to hearing from you. Contact me on email, on facebook, on Instagram and twitter. Let’s chat, let’s share opinions, let’s become friends. And if you like what you read, if it makes you think or smile or even cry then please share my blog with your family and friends.

If you choose to read my blog be warned, I may tell you way too much useless information about my dogs Bailey, Griffin and Daisy, because they are pretty cute and pretty perfect. I may indulge in the many reasons I believe that chocolate is a food group- possibly the best food out there. I mean, sure we are supposed to eat vegetables and some of you may profess to actually like vegetables- but let’s get real- do you ever just start thinking that you desperately need a green bean- that you can’t possibly live another moment without a green bean? I think not! But let me tell you, there are times that I think I may seriously die- like stop breathing fall to the floor kind of dead thing die if I don’t get a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup right now! But never ever a lousy green bean. Pftttt.

I may bore you with my own interpretation of politics- reasons why I am neither a Republican or Democrat and why my ideas and views intertwine between both.

I may tell you my reasoning of why moving to Stars Hallow Connecticut might be the best idea ever. Oh, by the way, Stars Hallow is not a real place, so if you have never watched an episode of the Gilmore Girls you might want to skip out on reading that particular blog post.

I may start a debate on why I think Sam Winchester is my hotter than Dean Winchester on the now complete TV series of Supernatural.

I might do a major over-load of pictures of my latest Jake Owen concert. If you have never seen Jake perform live then you should go. Go now. Right now! You won’t regret it.

I might just tell you all the reasons that my husband is better than yours and why you should be very jealous of me.

I may tell you why I am so not happy to be a resident of the state of Illinois, AKA the Midwest, AKA the armpit of the nation. Land of cornfields and the worst roads ever. I believe my back hurts daily just from bouncing from one pot- hole to the next.

I will fill you in on my travels, both domestically and internationally. I think traveling enriches your life, changes your perspective on everything. Leaving the comfort zone of your day-to-day life and going somewhere totally different where you know no one, where you can experience the unfamiliar, makes you feel alive and small, very, very small. There is a huge and amazing world out there and you should have goals to see as much of it as you can.

I believe in the right to bear arms. Although I would never have gotten one without a life threatening emergency, I believe women should have the right to get an abortion.

I believe that love is love and I think that if you happen to be gay or straight, French or African, a Republican or Democrat, extremely religious or not so much, that everyone deserves love, and love may look different for me than it does for you, but if you find love, true love, grab it and hold on for dear life. Fight for it. Appreciate it. Because love and happiness are the most important things ever.

I believe that Black lives matter. I believe white lives matter. I believe that no matter your color, your ethnicity, your religion, your gender, your age, your socio-economic status that your life matters. Human life matters. Dog’s lives matter.

I believe in the death penalty. If you have committed murder, rape, terrorism, child abuse, elderly abuse, animal abuse etc. then our world would be a better place without you. I believe all other non-violent crimes can be forgiven and the person committing them can be rehabilitated, but I do not think that you can reform someone who is just evil enough to commit crimes against the innocent victims.

I love snow- yep, that cold fluffy white stuff that most of the world hates. I love it. It makes the world look clean and refreshed. A renewal of sorts. I hate hot weather. If the temperatures are over eighty with high humidity you will probably hear me whining and complaining and no doubt rather loudly. I have suffered a heat stroke in the past and hot humid weather makes me physically sick and pass out easily. Yep, although I love cool spring and autumn weather in most cases I could just skip summer easily. Hot is only good when you are in a pool or at the beach. Otherwise, hot just makes you sweat and have high air conditioning bills.

I will probably be telling you a lot about missing my mom. I became an adult orphan in 1994. Easily, one of the most tragic and life changing events of my life.

I love rain. I love to listen to the rain. Rain makes me want to clean and bake and write. Dark days can be comforting. I love rain. Hang around long enough and I may just convince you to love rain too. Just give me time!

I won’t be shying away from the hard topics. I miscarried my first baby. Another incredibly challenging time in my life. My youngest daughter went into preterm labor and lost my granddaughter. She lived on a couple of hours and holding her and losing her was heart crushing. The deaths of my beloved pets and the decisions to euthanize them when the time was right was unbelievably difficult. All these topics are heartbreaking, but in some way or another we will all lose someone we love and talking about it helps.

I have a slight addiction to Louis Vuitton handbags. Expensive? Yep! A luxury for sure, but hey, I also have no problem shopping at Goodwill. I balance the expensive and cheap easily. As for clothes- we shall never ever ever- I repeat never discuss fashion on my blog unless you want to discuss why pajamas are the best clothing there is. Oh, and I hate bras and shoes too. They are an evil necessity I suppose, but things I attempt to avoid whenever possible.

I may tell you stories about family and friends and co-workers. I will change their names to protect the innocent unless I get prior permission to name names. But hey, if I have seen and heard things myself then I am part of the story and have every right to tell it to the world how I see it.

I believe people should answer their phone. Not answer with a text. Not avoid speaking to another person by sending them an email. Those things have their place, but the people in your life that count want to hear your voice! So, call them, or at the very least answer when they call you.

I may ask YOU what you want me to write about. What interests you? I may implement something called topic of the day where I write about a topic chose by you. If that sounds interesting let me know.

I truly hope that this blog reaches you far and near. I hope I reach a variety of readers. I hope that you will feel comfortable enough to communicate back and not just read in silence and I hope you will choose to come back repeatedly and share my links with your family and friends.
